Dooars |
Duars also spelled as Dooars is situated on the Eastern north Eastern India which is in the foothills of eastern Himalayas, West Bengal. it is also at the Southern Bhutan and the north of the Brahmaputra river basin. This place has It’s forest, wildlife centuries, reserves, and tea gardens, which is Why it is the popular tourist destination in West Bengal. It is also known as the gateway of Bhutan. The best time of visit this place is from October to June. In this time, people can witness pleasant weather, clear skies, sometimes with the view of Kanchanjangha Which increases the beauty and wildlife.

Dooars has its own history that once served as trade routes between Bhutan and India. The whole forested Area was inhabited by indigenous tribes, such as Rajbanshis, Mech, Rava, Toto and Lepchas. After the 19th century, Parts of the Dooars were under the control of Bhutanese Kingdom. after the Duar war between British East India company and Bhutan. After the victory, British annexed the Dooars region. later on this region was divided into Western Dooars(In Bengal) And Eastern Dooars(In Assam).

How to reach Dooars :
By road :
You can reach Dooars by road. From Siliguri it will take 1hour 45 minutes to 2 hours, from Alipurduar it will take 2hour 30 minutes approximately.
By train :
The nearest stations from dooars is New jalpaiguri junction, Dhupguri, New Mal junction.Then you can easily go through bus or private car.
By Air :
Most nearest airport from dooars is Bagdogra airport. After reached airport, you can easily take private car bus as per your preference.
